Your stay at Casa Pinares

We have two attractive suites available to our guests: the Apartment and the Atico.

The Apartment

The Apartment, with its own entrance, is a self-contained flat at garden level near to the pool.  It has a large open-plan living room/kitchen with double sofabed, armchair and dining table. Up a couple of steps, the double bedroom has a built-in wardrobe and cupboards, and there is a stylish bathroom with twin basins and a huge shower.  The living room has sliding glass doors that open onto a covered terrace ('porche' in Spanish) overlooking the garden and pool with a table and comfortable chairs. The kitchen has a full oven, hob, fridge-freezer and microwave, so you can prepare your own meals if you wish.  The Apartment can accommodate two or three adults or two adults and up to two pre-teenage children.  Because the Apartment has full kitchen facilities we can offer the accommodation either with or without breakfast.

The Atico

The Atico, reached by a spiral staircase, is a spacious suite with king-sized bed, comfortable sitting area and attractive bathroom with a walk-in shower.  It has air-conditioning, a minifridge and facilities for making tea or coffee.  There is a writing table so you can compose that long-delayed novel or work on your travel blog!  A small balcony, overlooking the garden and at the height of the treetops, has just enough room for you to enjoy a glass of wine and to wait hopefully for a visit from the local resident family of eagle owls - binoculars available!

There is free wireless internet access throughout the house - and indeed in the garden -  plenty of guidebooks and books on life in Spain to peruse, and we have far too many of the latest detective novels which you are free to raid while you are here. We don't have Satellite TV, owing to the position of the house, the mountain and pine trees.

The garden and pool

The house is built on the side of a hill and the garden is on several different levels connected by flights of steps. The swimming pool is surrounded by a tiled area for sitting, lounging and sunbathing which gives on to the lawn. There is a pergola and a large terrace overlooking the pool and shaded much of the day by the pine trees that is perfect for outdoor eating and drinking for much of the year.  Because of these different levels and steps, hard floors and the unfenced pool the house is not ideally suited to children under the age of about 7 years.  Older children who are swimmers and non-walking babies are most welcome, and we can provide cot, highchair and fold-out bed at no extra charge.

Food and Drink

We do not normally provide evening meals or lunches - see the page Visiting Malaga for why!  Breakfasts are taken on the terrace when possible - i.e. during practically all the summer - or in the dining room in the house, and we aim to provide rather more than the Traditional Spanish Breakfast - a bit of toast, olive oil and half a tomato!  We offer fresh orange juice (with Cava for Buck's Fizz if you fancy a treat!), home-baked bread or scones with home-made jams or local honey, yoghurt and fresh fruit salads, muesli and cereals.  Some mornings we may serve "specials" such as scrambled egg with smoked salmon, or pancakes with creme fraiche and fig preserve.

You will find milk, tea and coffee, biscuits and mineral water and waiting for you when you arrive - and a bottle of chilled wine in the fridge!  We have bottles of inexpensive "house wines" which you can buy from us at cost.  We will even show you how to make a "tinto de verano" - a simplified version of Sangria to which you may well become addicted!

The nearby beach resort of El Palo has numerous fish restaurants serving delicious, simply cooked seafood and salads at very reasonable prices. A "must" for visitors is a meal at the famed Tintero where waiters revolve around the dining area holding aloft trays of exotic seafoods and customers "bid" for their favourites!
